Screw compressor vs piston compressor: Which should you choose?

Two main types of compressors

In industrial compressed air production, screw compressors and piston compressors are the two most common types. The choice between them depends on air demand, operating patterns, and energy costs.

Screw compressor

Screw compressors are the preferred solution for continuous operation. They deliver a steady airflow, are quiet, and have a long service life. With variable speed drive (VSD), they can adapt output to actual demand and save up to 35% energy.

Among the Denair compressors supplied by Globe Energy, there are models with a permanent magnet (PM) VSD motor for even higher energy efficiency.

Piston compressor

Piston compressors are best suited for intermittent use with low to moderate air demand. They are less expensive to purchase but have higher maintenance costs and noise levels. They are best suited for workshops and smaller applications.
