Solar Panels in the Nordics: Does it really work?

Solar energy in the Nordics — myth vs reality

Many people believe that solar panels don't perform well in the Nordic countries. The truth is that modern panels produce a surprisingly large amount of energy, even in Norway, Sweden, and Finland. In fact, cold temperatures can increase panel efficiency, as solar cells perform better at lower temperatures.

Year-round production

In southern Norway, you can expect 800–1,000 kWh per installed kWp per year. From April to September, the panels produce the most energy. The long summer days in the Nordics partly compensate for the lower sun angle.

Combined with a BESS, surplus production from summer can be stored and used when needed — an ideal hybrid solution for industrial buildings.

JinKo Tiger Neo panels

Globe Energy supplies JinKo Tiger Neo panels with N-type cell technology offering up to 22.8% efficiency. Bifacial models can capture reflected light from snow and bright surfaces, which is particularly advantageous in Nordic climates.
