EV Charging for Business: How to get started
Why a charging station at the workplace?
With more and more electric cars on the roads, employees and visitors expect charging at the workplace. A well-planned charging infrastructure is an investment that increases attractiveness as an employer and can generate revenue.
Planning charging infrastructure
Start by mapping your needs: How many electric vehicles are parked each day? How long are they parked? Do you need AC charging (destination charging) or DC fast charging (transit charging)? For employees parking 6–8 hours, 22 kW AC charging is usually sufficient.
Also consider the available power from the grid connection. A load management system can distribute the available capacity more intelligently between charging points.
Combine with BESS
By combining charging stations with a BESS, you can offer fast charging without needing to upgrade your grid connection. The battery delivers peak power during fast charging and recharges between charging sessions.
